Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Do you want to play a key role in local decision-making and help shape the future of our village? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

Becoming a Parish Councillor

As a Parish Councillor, you will be at the heart of local democracy, representing the interests of residents and working to improve the quality of life in your community. This is a voluntary position, but the impact you can make is invaluable.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement: Listen to and represent the views of local residents.
  • Decision Making: Participate in council meetings and contribute to discussions on local issues.
  • Project Involvement: Help plan and oversee community projects and initiatives.
  • Policy Development: Assist in developing policies that benefit the parish.
  • Collaboration: Work with fellow councillors, local authorities, and community groups.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Commitment: A genuine interest in local issues and a desire to make a positive impact.
  • Time: you’ll need to prepare for and attend the monthly meetings so between 4 to 6 hours per month.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to listen to residents and articulate their concerns effectively.
  • Team Player: Willingness to work collaboratively with others.
  • Integrity: Uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and fairness.
  • Willingness to Learn: Open to training and development opportunities provided by the council and National Association of Local Councils.
